Pomeranian Puppies
The Pomeranian was originally named for Pomerania, a historical region that now makes up Poland and Germany. These dogs initially weighed almost 30 pounds and were used to herd sheep. It was not, however, until 1870 that they became well known. That is the year that England's Kennel Club recognized the Spitz dog. Queen Victoria became enchanted with a Pomeranian while visiting Florence, Italy in 1888. She decided she must have him and brought this little dog home with her to England, which greatly influenced its popularity.
This extroverted little dog is quite animated with a cocky personality. Pomeranians are considered to be a toy breed and are compact and little. They wear the expression of a sly fox and have a highly alert temperament. Today, the Pomeranian is widely popular as both a show dog and a companion pet. You will see this breed in all colors with varying patterns. However, red and orange are seen the most.
These intelligent little dogs are very eager to please. Due to their outgoing personalities, they make excellent family dogs. Because they are so small, Pomeranians do not need a lot of exercise, but they are very energetic and need plenty of attention from their humans.
