Ragnar Thorson Howl of Studly Manor is a wonderful purebred AKC registered Golden Retriever. He has a beautiful coat and coloring, he is dark gold with light gold feathering. His coat is very full and shiny. Ragnar is extremely intelligent he has had obedience and agility training. He has service dog intelligence. He can open doors, turn on tub water facets, and pick stuff up off of the floor among other attributes. Ragnar loves the outdoors he likes to go on nature hikes. He especially loves being in the water. He goes swimming and does water retrieving exercises in the spring thru early fall months. Ragnar has a wonderful temperament and loves to be with family and is very affectionate. At 6 years old he has the energy and enthusiasm of a puppy without being hyper active, with the intelligence of an adult dog. Many people have told us he has a very noble stature, look and personality. We have been told that his bloodline is of the field retrievers he has the coat, feathering and confirmation of a show dog. Ragnar is extremely healthy. He is OFA certified in his hips, elbows, thyroid, cardiac, and eyes. He has also had genetic testing done by Animal Genetics laboratories. He was tested for Ichthyosis, MD, PRA-1 and PRA-2. He tested clear for all of these gene mutations. Upon speaking to an employee at Animal Genetics about these genetic markers and mutations they stated that “for a Golden Retriever to test clear for Ichthyosis is rare occurrence and is very good.” They informed me that “of the goldens tested, 60 to 80 percent carry the Ichthyosis gene.” It is also uncommon for a Golden Retriever to test clear not only for Ichthyosis, it is uncommon to test clear on all of the mutations/markers tested for. As around 10 to 40 percent of Golden Retrievers tested carry either MD, PRA1 or PRA 2 or are carriers of a combination of these gene mutations. Since Ragnar has tested clear for all of these, this should make him more highly desirable for breeding, as he will produce puppies that will not have the disease or its symptoms. They may carry the mutation marker if the mother is a carrier but they will not have the disease and its symptoms. If both dogs bread tested clear none of these mutations/markers will be passed down. The goal for many breeders is that future generations of goldens will have less dogs that carry these genetic mutations. Breeding dogs like Ragnar that have tested clear in these mutations will help aid in this goal. His certification by the OFA for the items listed above is very important in producing litters of healthy golden retrievers. They will have less issues with hip dysplasia etc. Ragnar would produce wonderful puppies. Future liters produced would come from a healthy stud with highly desirable characteristics and rare genetics that are needed to help improve the golden retriever breed and its gene pool. He comes from a old healthy line of purebred Golden Retrievers and that line should be continued. Any dogs produced from this stud would have amazing temperaments and personality. They would be intelligent, strong, beautiful in coat, color, and conformation and most importantly they would likely be healthy and will make many people happy. These dogs sired would make for great family companions, hunting dogs, water dogs, and service dogs. Dogs produced from Ragnar would help to improve the Golden Retriever breed gene pool and health. Hi, I have a bitch Im looking to breed this week, and love the look of your Ragnar. I cant read his full description and would like to know about his temperament. Also, is he AKC registered, what health clearances/certificates does he have, and does he have brucellosis clearance? Thanks, Libby

This is in response to those who have expressed interest in information on Ragnar and possibly using him as a Stud for breeding. My dog and I are currently looking for a females to breed with. Since I have unable to access my K9stud account until recent, I need to update those who have messaged me and are still interested. First ID like to apologize for delays in my responses, I had an account issue just now cleared up and I am just now seeing contacts and messages left for me. I have both bad and good news to report, Sadly Ragnar has passed away and we miss him very much.. luckily we have his son Renegade as a member of our family and he is available as a Stud dog to the right Breeders and their Females. Renegade is AKC reregistered. Both Renegades parents Mom Freya and Dad Ragnar were AKC registered and bith had passed both genetics testing and OFA certifications. Due to those results Renegade is cleared by parentage on many of these areas He is 7 years old and has similar beautiful coloring to Ragnar. He looks more like his dad everyday. Renegade has an amazing temperament and is a dog that loves to please. He is one of the most well behaved and loving dogs we have ever had. He is forever a puppy at heart and loves tonplay and snuggle. He has good hunting instincts as well for those wanting hunting or sporting instincts in their match. Like his father when out for walks, play etc. we get stopped often with comments from others like “What a beautiful dog” “ what beautiful coloring” He is so well behaved” I am working on placing an ad on here for Renegade. I have attached some pictures here for those interested. Please message or email me if you are interested in more information on Renegade and discussing breeding. Once the ad is completed I will post a link on here for those who started on Ragnar’s page. Please note as it has been a good amount of time since I accessed this account the price reflected on Ragnar’s page is now different. The fee depends upon multiple factors such as breeding procedure done, if travel is involved etc
