I am happy to announce Ellie Elvas Da terra De Montoito and Fonzie Embolado de Viamonte gave birth to a wonder pequano wire litter on Dec. 9 2008 2 females and 1 male. These are a wonderful rare breed in the US with less then 300 currently listed in the AKC-Foundation Stock Service. This breed is a small dog that that ranges from 8 inches to 12 1/2 inches. They make a great family pet but can be wary with strangers. They have to get to know you. The Podengo Pequeno is a small primitive hound that was developed and is still used to hunt rabbits in packs or individually in its native Portugal. Although they resemble terriers they are NOTHING like a terrier. They are Hounds and they will come back unlike most hounds. They are designed to run over rock piles and under thick brush where the larger sized Podengo Medio/Grandes cannot. These dogs also come in smooth hair and 2 other sizes medio and grande. I currently also have a smooth litter with 2 females and 2 male see other ad and another litter due the end of January my last litter for this year. All puppies come with shots worming current and micro chipped. Because this is a very rare breed world wide and little sizes tend to be small 2 to 4 pups per litter females are rarely available. Most breeders keep females for future breeding stock or they prefer to place them with other breeders/show homes. If you are lucky to find a female available expect to pay a higher price for one or expect other breeder terms.
