I am a holistic breeder which means I do not use chemicals or drugs when raising my puppies. I use different natural things, read more about this on my website. Many vets recommend immunizations while the puppies are quite young and this damages their immune system. No puppy should ever be immunized before the age of 14 weeks as it still has natural immunity from their mama, no matter what age they are weaned. This is the belief behind many holistic vets practices. “Routine vaccination has adverse side-effects, either short or long term. With vaccines that are repeated year after year, the frequency and severity of these side-effects in our pets has increased dramatically. Most of the problems involve the immune system. After all, the immune system is what vaccines are designed to stimulate. But they do so in a very unnatural way that can overwhelm and confuse the immune system.” Donna Starita Mehan, DVM Dr. Ronald D. Schultz, Ph.D.- “Annual revaccination provides no benefit and may increase the risk for adverse reactions. The percentage of vaccinated animals those vaccinated only as puppies protected from clinical disease after challenge with canine distemper virus, canine parvovirus and canine adenovirus in the study was greater than 95.” There has also never been any studies done on re-vaccinating a puppy/dog. It is the vaccine manufactures who recommend it. Most shots last a lifetime and some last 7 years. It is very damaging to keep giving an animal shots that are doing nothing but setting them up to have problems down the road. It is very harmful and many vets believe it is the reason so many dogs are dying from cancer, have bladder, kidney and skin problems, seizures, etc... Most states have a law that states that the only vaccine required is the rabies vaccine. I believe in building up their immune systems instead of damaging it. See more about all this on my website. Many vets also like breeders to have their puppies on 2 different antibiotics as a preventative, for viruses, etc... This is not a healthy practice as it also lowers their immune system. There are many natural things you can use. I raise non shedding/hypoallergenic small dogs. They are not yippy or yappy and are great with kids. They are smart and easy to train.
