| I would say Yorkies or King Charles Cavaliers. Both are rather spendy. I breed Chihuahuas. My suggestion to you is if this is a new venture DO YOUR RESEARCH. Every breed has certain problems that you will need to address. Speak with other reputable breeders and last but least make sure you get the right stock. Your stock should be as close to AKC standards as possible. If you plan on raising champions its a whole different ball game. I have been breeding the better part of 10 yrs. I still try to improve the quality of my pets. You will need a game plan to figure out what your intentions are and what you want to produce. Feel free to e-mail me on my personal e-mail to discuss questions in a more private setting. oknecht@aol.com. I hope this helps. Orollerz

| The most profitable small breeds are the Chihuahuas Yorkies MaltesePomeraniansand mini poodles. I breed Chihuahuas myself and as long as you get some healthy Chihuahuas that are good looking and conform to AKC standards they are a wonderful healthy fun breed to raise. I breed the larger females to smaller males and usually end up with adults ranging in the 4-6lb range. You dont have the risks of c-sections and complications with the larger females that you would if you try to breed a female in the 3-4lb range. Although some breeders have had some luck with breeding the smaller females. Get some good books on breeding and know what you are getting into with whatever breed you choose before embarking on this new endeaver. Talk to as many breeders as you can and always have a good vet on hand to help with any complications that might arise. The chihuahua has very few health issues and usually dont have problems with miscarriage. It takes a lot of time and love and care to raise any breed. Chihuahuas tend to need more help with delivery than the larger breeds so be prepared to do anything that you can to ensure safe delivery at whelping time. I have been breeding for several years now and have read many books and have had many healthy puppies and experience in delivering puppies so if you have any questions about Chihuahuas I would be happy to help. My email is mare31869@aol.com. Good luck in your new endeaver. Mary

| Dont breed for the money. You should breed to improve bloodlines and make an excellent litter that could actually compete.

| Sounds like all you want to do is line your pockets - NO breed is all that profitable I have a small show kennel and this year 2008 I made a whopping $10000 and spent $25000.00 There is ALOT more to breeding than JUST having puppies IF you want to do it RIGHT and be an ethical responsable breeder and NOT a puppymill or backyard breeder and contribute to the animal shelters.

| I have NO problem with someone wanting to get started into breeding and asking questions is a good start everybody has/had to start somewhere. BUT asking what is the most profitable breed is NOT the way to start makes it sound like all this person sees is $$$ signs. You find a breed that you love and start asking questions and doing research on that breed find out the breeds strong and weak points their health issues etc. You get the ABSOLUTE best quality AKC dogs you can get if you want to dual register with other registeries later fine but I would HIGHLY recommend starting out with nothing but AKC you get at LEAST 5 generation pedigrees on your adult dogs i have 10 generations on all of mine you breed for QUALITY not quanity show your dogs if possible and sell your puppies that are sold as pets with spay neuter contracts. Like I said in an earlier post NO ethical reputable breeder makes a killing on having a kennel we do it because we love the breedes we have we love having puppies and we love to show at least I do.

| Thank You to those of you who have said YOU DONT MAKE MONEY at breeding if you do it correctly I have been showing and breeding Bichons since 1972. Puppies are not a cash crop. I have one maybe two litters a year when I find the right male for the right female and then only when most if not all the puppies are spoken for prior to birth. My dogs really are all in my home and socialized with almost hourly. This will assure a menatally and physically healthy puppy to go into itd forever family. Yes I do work but when I have a litter I take ten days off to be with those puppies and the mom until I am sure all is well. Does this sound like something you can do? Learn from a breeder who has produced champions talk to you vet and READ READ READ about the breed genetics and breeding. If so my blessings to you and I hope to meet you at a dog show in the future.

| Shame on you for only wanting to line your pockets with quick cash You need to decide on a breed educate yourself about health conditions common diseases of that breed and then test for anything that is an issue within that breed Breeding for money is the reason the shelters are overcrowded and we now have the ridiculous designer MUTTS Dont get me wrong mixed breeds are wonderful but they did not ask to be brought into this world by irresponsible backyard breeders who think they are going to make money. Breeding to improve the breed and eradicate health issues within that breed is the only reason to have a litter and done correctly you will barely turn a profit but you will have healthy wonderful breed representatives that are not causing overcrowding in shelters or breaking the poor families heart because you have sold them a puppy with genetic issues. My suggestion to you is get educated

| Any good breeder knows that when everything is said and done, you really dont make money, good breeders do it for the love of the breed. The females are put on high protein diets, and make a few trips to the vets, the would want to find the best males as to make sure that there are no defects, you dont want to over breed your females, more than once a year, then when the puppies are born, well before all of this you really should talk to people about knowing when your female will deliver, have someone with experience help you whelp the puppies. The puppies should be checked by the vets as well as the mother approx 1 wk after birth, then before you send the puppies or sell them you want to make sure theyre dewormed and have had their 1st set of shots. If youre a good breeder then you make yourself available to any puppies that dont work out in their new homes, etc.You want to make sure these puppies go to the best homes, this all for the love of the breed not the green Shame on you youre probably sitting at home w/ a ton of kids collecting welfare too Its people like you that put these dogs in pounds, and so many unhealthy dogs. Get a job, stay away from dogs, because if youre in my town, you would never breed
