| What breed are you thinking of starting with. I can give recommendations on German Shepherds Airedales Pekingese Poodles andBorder Collies. I have breeder friends of many other breeds can help you if we know what breed you have decided on. Also Breeder does not MAKE MONEY I have never come out ahead i have gotten even sometimes and in some cases still owed vet bills after litter sold so if you are doing it to make money Stop now. That is my tip for the day

| Once you decide on a breed find a breeder in your area that has a track record of producing healthy dogs. Does this person have dogs that are registered? have all of the breeding stock been health tested for the genetic problems that crop up in that particular breed?
ALL breeds have genetic health issues and anyone stating otherwise is someone to avoid. Do not buy into the myth that mutts are healthier. Its easy to believe that a dog doesnt have a problem when the testing has not been done.
Questions to ask yourself is what do you expect to get out of breeding dogs? If it is for a paycheck you must expect to spend money to make money.
Are you prepared to pay for a c-section? Are you mentally able to handle the idea that puppies may die at birth? Are you willing to hand raise puppies that are either rejected at birrth or their mother is not capable of feeding? There is also the chance that the mother may die.
Females should not be bred until they are nearly two years old. Breeding the female to young can result in all of the things mentioned above.
As stated above research research and more research.
