| I sure have noticed a lot of breeders on here with puppies that they are calling rare colors. All I want to say is that buyers should study up on the breed standards as to what is exceptable and what is not. A lot of the times these so called rare colors are a sign of bad breeding. If you need the breed standards just go to the web sites of the AKC UKC or CKC. They all list the breed standards. Dont pay more for these so called rare colors

| yea I see that alot on the boxers. sure seem to be a lot of them being called black. Ask what the color is on the registration. Bet it is brindle. Yes some of the brindles are really dark and they almost appear black but they are still brindle if they are a true black than it is a disqualification on the breed standards and a sign of bad breeding. Here is the AKC colors for Boxers
The colors are fawn and brindle. Fawn shades vary from light tan to mahogany. The brindle ranges from sparse but clearly defined black stripes on a fawn background to such a heavy concentration of black striping that the essential fawn background color barely although clearly shows through which may create the appearance of reverse brindling. White markings if present should be of such distribution as to enhance the dogs appearance but may not exceed one-third of the entire coat. They are not desirable on the flanks or on the back of the torso proper. On the face white may replace part of the otherwise essential black mask and may extend in an upward path between the eyes but it must not be excessive so as to detract from true Boxer expression. The absence of white markings the so-called plain fawn or brindle is perfectly acceptable and should not be penalized in any consideration of color. Disqualifications Boxers that are any color other than fawn or brindle. Boxers with a total of white markings exceeding one-third of the entire coat.

| the only color choice for boxers on an AKC registration is fawn or brindle. So if you have an all white boxer or a black boxer you have to pick one color or the other.

| You can register as white but it is still not recognized for shows. Anything that has more than a third white is not show quality

| A boxer that is a so called black boxer is nothing but a brindle boxer. Therefore it is registered as a brindle. Boxers do not carry the necesary gene to produce a solid black color.
