| What is the most effective way to stop my in home dogs from barking. One starts barking AT NOTHIING and then they all chime in almost like a contest. It is driving us crazy I tried bark collars so please do not recommend them as they did not work.

| I have had excellant results using a toy squirt gun filled with water. Place several around the house so one is within easy reach at all times. I also use them to train a new cat not to climb on kitchen counters or on tables.

| Squirt guns work great I started with them for training cats to stay off the counters and found they work for the dogs too.

| They are right, or a squirt bottle, just make sure it is on their rump and not the face. Each time use a command IE hush, stop etc each time the dog does this and after around a week or so this behaviour should stop.
We have dobermans and they are vocal and this became a problem, one would start and get the other 3 going. So this does work

You actually may want your dog to bark, to warn you that someone has entered your property. The problem is that some dogs react to even the smallest stimulus, which causes them to bark. The animals must be taught when to bark. you dont want your dog barking when a leaf falls off the tree. But you do if there is an intruder. I have a neighbor who is suing us over the dog barking, but I have photographs of him provoking the dog.He gets near the property line makes unusual noises the dogs bark. Should I be responsible for this? then after the dogs bark in response to his noises, he begins to yell loudly, to show other neighbors that My dogs are barking.
I bought an electronic bark collar, but Ive noticed that my dog does not normally initiate the barking, it is usually for a genuine reason.Wish me luck with my dog hater neighbor.
