| Awhile back when I was looking for a chinese crested stud to breed to my crested female a woman breeder acted offended when I asked her if she had a stud service... she didnt even ask about my female or anything. I had found her website which is how I contacted her and I assumed since she had all of her show dogs up for the world to see that she maybe studded out her males... but she sure didnt
I later found a wonderful breeder and ended up buying a pup from her to be my stud... he will finally be old enough to breed on my females next heat.
This all happened before I found this website.

| We are a breeder and always looking to improve our lineage. We breed Beagles mostly for family companions and English Springer Spaniels for hunting family companions. We are experienced breeders of 18 years. No we do not show our dogs. We have all of the proper testing done on our dogs as well as the puppies that have found new home. Our biggest compaint is...When we are talking to a breeder and we let them know we are breeders also the price shoots up 200-1000 more for unlimited registration. AKC charges 25 to change the reg. In our eyes the breeder is only looking for more money.

You know, if you have all the proof that you claim, quit btching and take this person to small claims court. It isnt that hard and if you have all the proof needed then she will wind up paying way more that it would cost just to own up and do the right thing.
I really hate it when people get on these forums and bellyache about other breeders but do nothing that actually counts. And if your story is true, its tragic, although not unfamiliar and happens to a lot of people sadly.
My first question would be---how did she get the sick dog on the plane?
Did you verify the health certificate.
Did you contact the vet who gave it to make sure the right dog was shipped?
Have you contacted your state veterinarian?
Have you contacted the USDA and alerted them to any falsely acquired documents.
Was the dog shipped on a plane?
Or was it shipped ground transport?
Have you contacted the transportation owner and alerted them to the condition of the animal. If it was obviously sick why did they accept it? If it was checked in well, was a value claimed? What exactly was wrong with the dog? Was it obviously ill when you went to pick it up? If it was why did you accept it? Did you alert the shipping handler that the dog was ill? Did you have them contact the shipper?
So many questions and so few answers.

| I would also like to know why you didnt do the quecking up before you got the puppy. Even if your story is true it easily could have been avioded. Did you ever call her vet to see if she was a ethical breeder? And I must agree that it would have been almost impossible to get a puppy that sick on the plane? If you arent responsible enough to see that things are cleared up before you get the puppy you had better be ready to take the consequences.

| Goldleaf Collies – WOW
When you go to www.goldleafcollies.com you will see what appears to be the most informative website where you will find the prettiest collies and speak to the breeder. You will think you have come across the most credible and knowledge breeder that ever existed. When you go there you will see a clean facility for the dogs and think to yourself, “Wow, Goldleaf must be a responsible and a quality breeder.” Unfortunately, you need to think twice when it comes to Goldleaf collies.
This has been my experience when I purchased a pup from Gerry at Goldleaf Collies in October 2010 whose parents are Scout and Song of my Heart aka Reba. By March 2011 our little guy who we love and adore was diagnosed with severe bi-lateral hip dysplasia. I immediately contacted the breeder Gerry to inform her and was told that she had no knowledge of a history of dysplasia in her litters. We do not want to return our puppy, nor do we do want our money back we only want the breeder to do the responsible thing for the sake of the collie breed, which she sells without any restrictions so who knows how far this will travel.
Goldleaf Collies has continued to breed Scout many times with other females and yet again Reba and Scout had another litter. When I found out about the hip dysplasia I was told Reba was expecting yet will full knowledge of our pup sired by Reba Scout Goldleaf Collies sold all the pups in the new litter as though they are healthy, which I sincerely hope they are. Our collie from Goldleaf has undergone an FHO and is having difficulty developing muscle. Now, almost 6 months later there is still no word as to who the carrier is. I contacted Goldleaf Collies again only to find out another pup from my collie’s litter is being euthanized because of a muscle defect. Could this be why my guy can’t develop the muscle on the FHO side. My fellow has been in rehab for 5 months and we have thrown everything at this to help him. But, even when asked only for information the breeder has NEVER advised me of who the carrier is of the HD Yet she continues to breed these pups knowing full well that there is a problem
I thought I was dealing with a reputable breeder who was knowledgeable and had a true love for her animals. Sadly all I can do is walk away from my experience broken hearted with a pup so severely afflicted with the bi-lateral hip dysplasia and possibly a muscle issue that impedes his recovery. The surgical leg so weak they can’t even approach repairing the other side.
Don’t be fooled by the illusion you found a quality breeder. For me, dealing with Goldleaf Collies has only represented negligence in the breeding of the dogs and clearly once the sale is made this breeder it is very difficult to ascertain needed informatioin. I would never recommend this breeder to anyone no matter how lovely a web-page she has or the illusion of quality and I have a pup with HD.
