We live on a small farm in the country. As we have added to our farm menagerie, we realized that we needed a dog that would be able to live with us and our other animals. We realized we needed a dog that would display a sense of family loyalty and not one that would jump in the car with the next person who came along. We also needed a dog that would be protective of our home, protective of our animals, and our family, and yet at the same time, be a dog that we could take with us out in public. After much research, we decided that the American Bulldog was the dog for us. The American Bulldog is the original farm dog that fulfilled the requirements of family dog, and working dog.
It is our goal to develop dogs that meet those criteria. We breed for temperament, and conformation to the original breed purpose. We begin at birth handling our puppies, imprinting them with human contact. As the puppies grow older, we begin to introduce them to new sites, sounds and eventually other animals. When our pups are 5 to 6 weeks old, we administer the Volhard Puppy Aptitude test found at www.workingdogs.com .
We try to ascertain the basic temperament each puppy is leaning toward in order to help our clients select the right pup for their home and environment. Not all dogs are created equal. Some have more of a tendency to be more independent. Some are more insecure. The Puppy Aptitude Test is a good gage of how the pup should turn out. Of course, environmental factors will always play a huge role in the development of all dogs as they mature into adulthood.

After working with other breeders and kennels for several years, I decided it was time to select of breed of dog for my own. My husband I completed almost two years of research on various breeds before choosing the American Bulldog. I can honestly say I have never had a regret.
