Blind puppy
This is kind of a loaded question but I am curious to see responses I bought a min pin and to my surprise when we got it home we discovered the pup was blind We contacted the seller and they agreed to refund money and take the pup back. The also contacted us back and told us that their vet who had given the pups vaccines said it seemed the pup had blue eye which is a very rare reaction toa vaccination. We were very concerned and already attached to the pup. Since we have a small child we knew we could not raise a blind dog. Upon returning the pup to the seller we were called and accused of dropping the pup and causing blindness. The seller tried to say the pups eyes appeared crooked. I was so shocked and bothered. I advised them the dog had ran into the wall a few times until we figured out it was blind. So I guess my question is first... has anyone had experience with blue eye? Secondly if somehow the pup had been injured wouldnt their be other symptoms? I mean a hit to the head hard enough to cause blindness seems like it would also cause a yelp bleeding or something??? Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

Vaccine Blue eyeYes it does happen Although I doubt VERY much it was the a Vaccination given by a vet.. Is a common Vaccine reaction to the Adeniovirus type 1 in some older vaccines or the ones you can mail order cheap.. Also Adeniovirus can cause blue eye if the dog was exposed to it.. So Either the dog got the virus or was vaccinated with a Type 1 adenovirus vaccine.. Most likely done by the breeder.. As far as the dog loosing it sight.. From hitting a wall NOT LIKELY.. Also that would cause specific changes/sighs to the eye the vet would be able to detect.. I am guessing something is very partiular.. and the breeder should refund or offer a replacememt any breeder should have been able to notice a blind puppy though observation of the litter and her Vet would be able to determine if the dog has Blue eye from the vaccine or even Trauma that they claim.. Honestly at this point as tough as it may be.. I would walk away find another breeder Vs taking a replacement.. Because there is a destinct pattern herethat is not at all approperate.. Amanda
