We believe that our secure home environment paired with individual care and attention to each dogs personality gives us the opportunity to place our puppies in the proper home for their current and future needs. All of our puppies are well socialized in a pack hierarchy teaching them important skills that only other dogs can teach them while they are in our care. We also begin to allow prospective parents to begin seeing the puppies in person when they are five weeks old. They are exposed to all kinds of conditions including loud noises and strange animals such as cats to ensure that they have the enrichment that their quickly maturing minds require in their crucial learning stages while they live in our home.
All of our kennels are indoors in a large room connected to the main house. There are two whelping rooms a large bathing room lots of storage and plenty of room for dogs. These kennels are only used for eating and sleeping and resting when the weather does not permit them to be outdoors. Otherwise all of our dogs are outside running in their large backyard surrounded by a six foot fence. All of our dogs learn to potty train much easier this way as they spend most of their time outside when its nice.

Located about 30miles east of Birmingham Alabama we are trying our best to produce outstanding puppies in an already amazing superiod breed of dog the Border Collie. Border Collies were declared the smartest dogs in the world after a two year study by scientists into intelligence in different breeds of dogs. We didnt need them to tell us that we already knew. We are Jim and Anne Albright and I am Mama Anne. Since I take care of the Internet part its my writings that you will read and you will talk to me when you call or if you want to see our puppies on my web cam. I have been breeding animals since I was five years old. Ive been studying pack behavior in dogs all my life. We always had a large pack of dogs mostly due to the fact that people back then didnt spay or neuter their dogs and if they couldnt give away puppies or kittens or they could no longer keep a grown animal they would take them out and dump them on the side of the road in the country because they figured people in the country would take them in. Since I lived in the country in the middle of my mothers family which is very large I have 15 first cousins and two brothers we were the recepients of many pets over the years. My mama would say not one more and I would reply No Mama there are five of them. My father was as into it as me. It was not unusual for him to stop and pick up animals left on the side of the road on the way to or on the way home from Birmingham where he worked as an engineer. We lived in the valley between Montevallo Alabama and the Shelby County Airport where the freeway entrance is now. We had to rehabilitatate the animals as they were always starving and cure illnesses and wounds on some. I learned very early how to clean a wound and stitch it up as it always seemed to happen on the weekend when no vets were available. I also learned that animal babies like human babies thrive best and do better later in life if they have the proper nutrition when they are infants. I started them out by giving them cream from our cows milk. We had several cows whom we all milked at one time or another. Mostly my Daddy did it but sometimes I had to. Boy I hated that. Cows are stupid with a few exceptions. We had plenty of milk and too much cream. We had whipped cream on our dessert every night and we also made butter. I dont know how many hours I spent with my arm going up and down churning butter. I had to help my Grandma too because I am the eldest granddaughter. When I started breeding animals at the age of five I applied what I had learned in helping the animals that were tossed out and became members of our large family. I also applied it to the purebred animals that I bred.
I became disabled in 1989 and had to retire from my job on disability. I was very ill for many years and still am not able to drive or to do much around the house. I am blessed with my husband Jim who started studying my first disability when most other people including most doctors would not admit that it was a medical condition. I have wonderful doctors and am blessed with the insurance to pay for quality care but Jim has helped me more by finding alternative medical ways to help me. When I became a little better I decided to breed dogs again. Since my older brother taught me how to train hunting dogs for different uses when I was about seven I started breeding hunting hounds redbone black and tan red-tick and treeing walker. The hunters in the county where I lived where very happy with my puppies and with my training if they needed it which the younger boys did. Unfortunately there is a person whose name will remain unidentified who started stealing my dogs and my puppies. I am not his only victim but he seemed to really like my dogs. He is a horrible man a crackhead and a sneak thief. I couldnt bear the heartbreak of finding another dog or another stolen so I had all my dogs spayed and neutered. My health was also declining again and I was not up to taking care of puppies especially not hound pups with litters of 10-12 all with insatiable appetites. They lived many years free to run free to come in or go out as they pleased. The last one went to the fur angels in 2004. She was almost 20 years old.
I had gotten somewhat better by about 2001 so I started thinking about what kind of animal I wanted to breed next. I figured that I better not breed hound dogs again or the same thing would happen. I had gotten three dogs from the Humane Society and they are wonderful and from their association with my Border Collies are very smart. I searched the internet and out of all the dogs listed in any way the Border Collie was head and shoulders above any other dog. I also figured maybe that guy wouldnt steal Border Collie Puppies. I was wrong. I had some relief while he was in prison first for trying to fill a fake oxycotin prescription then in the federal pen for selling crack and for stealing $60000 worth of road signs which is a federal offence. I never said this guy was smart its just that he is really really sneaky. He has five Bord4er Collie puppies from us. He got our of prison in December and stole one of our puppies May 4th. Our city cops make Barney Fife look like Rambo. The only good thing was that I got to see him being lead away in handcuffs on tv.
Anyway I set about finding my Stud because he must be at least 2 years old to breed. I took my time looked at a lot of litters and right before Christmas of 2002 I found him. My husband bought him for me for my Christmas present. His registered name is William Robert for William Wallace and Robert the Bruce two scottish heroes we are descendants of the McLachlan Clan and also after my father William and my grandfather Robert. I called my daughter and told her his registered name and said And Im going to call him at which time she interrupted and said No Mama dont even say it I dont think I can handle that type of Southern sterotyping after all weve done to try to dispel it. I didnt let that stop me I said And were going to call him Billy Bob at which she groaned and groaned. But he was the right choice. His mother Ipswitch Snip was born in Scotland and his father Pal was a cattle herder champ. His mom also herds cattle. He turned five in November and he is enterering his prime. He throws large healthy smart fast sweet and loving beautiful litters. Now you know about our stud. If youd like to read more of my long-windedness please go to our website and download a Microsoft Works .wpd file called Presentation Huckleberry Oaks.wpd and read it. You will learn about the special nutrition program we have for our females pregnant nursing recovering and maintaining. And you will learn about our nutrition program for our puppies. We cautiously add a little more each litter and everybody says our puppies are the smartest the fastest the most loving and beautiful they have seen. I have had many people in Europe want to buy my puppies but I wont do it because of the flight time. I dont like shipping puppies but I do. I use American airlines and it usually is $197 flat fee to ship a dog anywhere in the lower 48. You can read why I use them in the presentation. Feel free to download any pics movies songs texts on our available puppies or whatever you want. Call me at the number listed below. If you would like to see my puppies on my web cam invite huckleberryoaks to your yahoo messenger and we can set up a time for you to see them.
